Hell hello Anon! Don't worry , you dont sound like an asshole at all , and I'm glad you came and asked anyways!!
Ginger in game is based off of a gingerbread man/ gingerbread cookies , which are always depicted as having warm brown coloring + tones. Her official art is also tanned and brown skinned, which IS already a natural tone for humans anyways. You could also argue "but her sugar cookie skin is lighter" - its still brown , just muted.
If you were to take gingers toon tones , and compare them to a skin tone chart, she would not show up ANYWHERE near white. The same could be said for Cosmo or bassie , or cocoa.
especially since they are all toons with the closest to human skin tones , its odd to make them lighter.
in most cases on pt, people will excuse this by saying "its my style" - which isnt an excuse to blatantly refuse to even make an attempt for more accuracy.
..if this doesnt make sense lmk , or whisp me on pt if im online
